MacPaint - formatting text from the Note Pad - use the Note Pad for entering text, Paste into MacPaint.  The newly pasted text will appear in a marquee.  Resize the Marquee (position your pointer within the marquee), hold down the COMMAND key and drag, and your text will be reformatted to match the new marquee's size.  As long as the marquee is active, you can format the text with any of MacPaint's text options.
